Controls have been developed for various stages in spinning process to improve the quality of the end product, i.e. yarn. For this we have Piano type autoleveller at Blow-room, giving more uniform lap, autolevellers at carding and drawframes to give more uniform sliver etc. But even with all these controls it is not possible to get 100% uniform yarn. The present concept of the yarn depends upon various parameters like count, twist, strength, evenness and nepiness. The definition of the quality yarn is incomplete until the yarn faults are taken into consideration and eliminated. Major yarn faults are:

  1. Thick places
  2. Thin places
  3. Spinners doubles
  4. Spun in neps etc

The incidence of several faults in the yarn not only causes poor fabric appearances, but also leads to machine stoppages in weaving. So the yarn processor has set his standards quite high with respect to removing faults during winding which have unavoidably been produced in the yarn. The determination of such disturbing faults is related to the quality requirement of the finished fabrics. Yarn faults which are acceptable in the case of certain woven and knitted fabrics will not be tolerated in the case of high class fabrics.

The large number of faulty-yarn-places requires a yarn clearing process operating to exact and predetermine limits. With the applications of an Electronic yarn clearing Installation, these requirements can be suitably realized because in contrast to mechanical clearer not only the thickness of the fault but also the length of the fault is taken into consideration. Electronic yarn Clearers ensures excellent clearing to be obtained with minimum mechanical stress on the yarn.
